Are You Building up the Temple First, so God Might Appear within You, or are You Encouraging the Indwelling of God, as the First Step, to the Restoration of the Temple of Your Heart?
Then again, maybe you are doing neither or transcending both!
F Scott Fitzgerald said, “The test of a first-rate intelligence is the ability to hold two opposed ideas in mind at the same time and still retain the ability to function,”
Yet, all religions, especially in the East, counsel us that God cannot be found in the mind, for the mind is a chattering monkey that keeps us from hearing the melody of our heart. And it is the heart after all, that is the true temple of God within us.
So I been studying a great deal of Eastern Philosophy, the Upanishads and such; trying to comprehend Kundalini, Turiya “the God State,” and Samadhi. The waters are very deep for a ragged, old spiritual pilgrim to cross though, without a guide; but such have I become.
Then it came to me, like the fleeting lightning flash of Braham to true believers. Most all religions see the Human as the Temple of God but there seems to be two streams of thought about this perception. Do we have to build up the temple first through religious technique, before God will make Him|Her self known to us or do we invite God to indwell us first, and through His|Her presence is our temple restored and built up?
These are such a profound and foundational understandings of the Human’s journey to the One. Yet, most adherents to the differing paths have no idea they are making a choice at all.
The Christian understanding is that it is impossible for the Human, weighted down by sin and the worries of this world, to have the indwelling presence of God, without the covering of the blood and suffering of the Christ. When Christ enters the temple through the presence of the Holy Spirit, the walls are restored, and our temple is made perfect by the presence of Shekinah Glory, Our Mother held within.
Matthew 11:28–30: “Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. “Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. “For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”
How can your heart not leap at such a promise to the Human from the Avatar indwelled by God? And as a Christian, our hearts are meant to be transformed by such incredible mercy and love, so that we imitate the One who has provided the merciful path.
In the east there are hundreds of prescriptions for right living and right practice that the seeker must master in order to be in the proper state to Apprehend God. Are there really semi-magical formulations that must be cast within ourselves in order to tempt God to love us?
In the East, the Human has a much larger role in His|her own salvation, through the inner transformation of the Temple first, which is needed in order to apprehend God.
And since the mind of the Human, is so overwhelmed by doubt, how do we ever muster the courage to transcend the way?
The really incredible observation that I witness is this one; The majority of The Human lacks the desire or ability to transcend either path to God. The Human neither surrenders and accepts God’s mercy or works and struggles in the pursuit of God. The Human for the most part is held firm within an intransigent mind-set, that keeps us chained to neutral unbelief, most commonly because we are afraid of losing something within us by choosing God. Some shiny object that we have come to love more than the One, who is both us and the object.
The One is so gentle and kind, in that he has provided a path through the Christ, yet we as the Human cannot even reach out and accept this hand up, because of what might fall from our grasp, as we reach up to the love and light of the One. Even when God gives us All as a free gift, we cling to the world and the desire to maintain our own idol of self-control and godhood, without the presence of the One. We have fallen in love with the dream of the sovereignty of our own being. We have too much to loose.
Then again, is it really possible to slay the monkey brain, that longs for past memories, to control the present and to ruminate and worry about the future? Is it really possible to live in the ever present now, in the clear and translucent light of the transcendental soul that is God within us? Can we truly live as ascended Humans?
Is it possible through methods, ritual and self abrogation to actually become as the God we long to apprehend?
Be still! “The One is you, even in this moment; and you are also the One. Nothing the Human does can separate Him|Her from the love and presence of the One. You will always be the One and the One will be you. You need not give up anything, because God already dwells within you and is you. The things that you are clinging to with your grasp are being held also by the One within you. My child, we are each other.”
